Author and designer Daphne Geismar discovered an antique desk drawer filled with letters and diaries documenting her family members’ experiences during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Their voices inspired her acclaimed book Invisible Years—and now this inventive animated short. Directors Kira Dane and Katelyn Rebelo combine hand-crafted animation, archival footage, photographs, artifacts, interviews, and an original score by harpist Mary Lattimore to tell a beautiful story of courage and resilience in the face of persecution, separation, and loss.
